Susan Brown lives and works in Christchurch, New Zealand, with her husband and two young children. She creates a small quantity of exclusive handcrafted silver jewellery of her own design from her home workshop.
"I love texture and colour, and am working with ways to incorporate both into my jewellery, while still retaining a feeling of balance. Design integrity is also important, with every design element there for a reason. Working through to a good design is a process for me, not something that 'just happens'. There is a real sense of satisfaction when the end result conveys something to other people too."
In 2005 Susan's Southern Alps Brooch won the Lapidary Journal (USA) Jewellery Arts Awards 2005, Pins/Brooches Section (see Awards).
In 2008 Susan's Children's House Brooch was featured in the annual PMC Guild "Exceptional Work in Precious Metal Clay 2008” book.
